While visiting at west coast this summer, I took several photo references of the rose gardens near the Empress Hotel. I think this 24X24 oil captured the feeling of the day.

Dianne and Marianne are wonderful artist friends who love to go plein-air painting. We’re at nearby Fish Creek Provincial Park in Calgary Alberta. It’s a great location in all seasons. Thanks for asking me to join you, and for taking these great photos!

Had a fun watercolor plein-air outing with artist friends Marianne Hunt and Dianne Middleton. We painted through the smokey haze of the BC forest fires. The photos I took had some great effects, almost impressionistic, for future references.
