Heading back from Cobble Flats, I took a quick photo through the windshield and painted this12X24 in my studio.The smaller 8X10 is the older plein-air piece done at Cobble Flats (sold).

Hoped to create a luminous effect while creating this piece. Have since modified the design by adding larger rocks and think its working better now. Will add the altered image to oil landscapes.

Recalled why I switched to painting in oils, after putting the finishing touches on this 24X48 oil on canvas.  The rich glossy darks that can only be achieved in oils, and the way you can vary the thickness and textures of the paint, best reasons for a switch.

Inspired by autumn’s rich pallette, I finished this 20X20 oil this morning.  Am excited to continue with this pallette in larger sizes.

Lewis took this photo of me at Clava Cairns, a three to four thousand year old pre-historic cemetary, in Scotland. We took a Celtic tour which included Scotland,England,Ireland,Wales and Northern Ireland. Watch for new paintings, some in oils, others in watercolor or pastels.
