Country Roads 2014

On the Road Again 36X36 acrylicAs I’m the passenger when driving with my husband, it’s a perfect opportunity for taking reference photos through the windshield. Country roads, and winding mountain roads are a favorite subject. Roads remind me to look ahead, not back. They are also a constant reminder that we need to keep advancing and evolving, on both a personal and spiritual level. This is on the way to Sundre, hwy 22 north.

Panorama

Hazy Days of Summer 24X72 acrylic This summer we have experienced a lot of hot and hazy days due to the forest fires that are in BC. The light takes on a golden glow and the distant colours are more muted.

A favorite reference

Dockstader fine artThis morning I warmed up this rather chilly painting using warm tints of white. The reference photo was taken by my son Jay while snowboarding at Fortress ski resort several years ago. I ad painted it before in small formats in watercolor and in oils. This is a 24X48 acrylic and I will be keeping it for awhile before it heads to the gallery in June.
